You may print out this information Here. This is an informative letter to our supporters about YOL.
The Youth Orchestras of Lubbock serves over 150 students in the elementary through high school ages in the South Plains and surrounding areas. The purpose of this organization is to provide an exceptional and unique music education experience for the youth of West Texas.
Less than 43% of our revenue is generated through tuition fees. Keeping tuition low is a primary means by which we fulfill our purpose, and we therefore rely on financial and in-kind contributions made by individuals, foundations, and corporations to continue and to grow our programs.
- YOL provides South Plains area music students with the experience of a full orchestra (strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion performing together). This combination of instruments is the basis for playing some of the best-known and loved music of all time, but this type of ensemble occurs infrequently in school settings.
- YOL programs are, in fact, the only opportunity for an orchestral experience for most students in private schools, home schools, and in public school districts that lack a strings program.
- Any student who successfully auditions for the program is accepted without regard for the ability to pay. This past year YOL awarded 35 scholarships.
Conductors and rehearsal coaches are members of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, faculty, or graduate students in the Texas Tech School of Music, or professional musicians in the community.
- YOL is run by an all-volunteer board; aside from the artistic staff, only the Program Director and two student assistants are paid positions.
Thank you for supporting the students of the Youth Orchestras of Lubbock. Your generous donation in any amount is appreciated.
